When is the best time to get a 3D/4D ultrasound?
3D/4D ultrasound can be done anytime after 8 weeks. When your baby is smaller we can seen all of the baby in one image. When baby is larger we see different parts one at a time. The later in pregnancy, the more fat the baby will have and the facial features will be more developed. So, if you are only planning to have one 3D ultrasound we recommend coming in after 28 weeks.
Are you always able to determine fetal gender?
We are able to assess fetal gender as early as 12-13 weeks but to be able to be accurate the baby needs to be in an optimal position. After 16 weeks things are more developed and easier to determine. The position of the baby, the umbilical cord, or maternal tissue may sometimes hinder evaluation but we will find a way to find the fetal sex for you!
Are the images read by a doctor?
All ultrasounds labeled diagnostic and description will be read by a physician.
Are these ultrasounds billed/covered by insurance?
We do not currently accept insurance. All exams are paid out of pocket by our clients. We are in the process of accepting insurance in the future but it is a long process. We will keep our clients updated as we move forward.
Will I be able to see my baby clearly?
We are highly trained maternal fetal medicine Sonographers and we use the newest and best machines and tranducers, but there are limitations which cause the images to not be as clear and readable as the ones you see on tv or social media. We will do everything we can to get you great pictures. Here are some of the limitations we face during an ultrasound exam.
Stubborn baby: sometimes babies are in a position where we cannot see what we need. They face mom’s back or have arms and legs in front of the face. We will try several things to get your baby into a better position but it isn’t always possible to get a full face view.
Maternal tissue: Sound waves travel a certain length and they are effected by by everything in front of your baby ( placenta, fluid, cord, limbs, and maternal tissue). We will do everything we can to provide the clearest images possible but there are times that images will not be as clear due to these limitations.
Fluid: The baby is surrounded by amniotic fluid. The more fluid there is, the easier we can see your baby. There isn’t much you can do about the fluid since it is something the baby regulates, but we recommend staying as hydrated as possible because dehydration can cause decreased fluid.
Do you offer at-home imaging?
Not currently. Our machine is large and not suited for portable/mobile imaging at this time.
If I lose my DVD or images, can I get more copies? Is there a charge?
We store our exams for three months. If it is within three months, you can call or email and have us make a new DVD or print new pictures for a small charge. If it has been more than three months, we will not be able to provide Your images to you because they are no longer in our system.
Do you offer digital images that can be sent via email?
I am able to send some images through email. If you have had your appointment and would like me to email a few pictures from your exam we are happy to do so. Please email us at Peaceofmindimaging@gmail.com
