What to Expect During Second Trimester Exam

During the second-trimester ultrasound, we’ll start by putting some gel on your baby bump, then we’ll use the transducer to see into your body and get views of your baby.

Will we see the baby’s face?

If we’re conducting the optional 3D/4D imaging, whether we can see the face depends on your baby’s position. If your baby isn’t in the right position to get a good view, sometimes we can coax your baby into a position where they can be seen.

Will I get pictures?

When Is the Second Trimester? What’s Happening With My Baby’s Development?

The second trimester is week 13 up through week 27. During this time, the baby’s gender is becoming apparent, and your baby is developing the ability to hear, move their eyes, suck his or her thumb, and even respond to your voice. Your baby’s lungs will develop during this time.
